Andrew Coulson FCA has been re-elected for a second term as President of ICAEW Birmingham and West Midlands.

Andrew’s re-appointment was confirmed at ICAEW’s Birmingham and West Midlands recent annual meeting and his focus on digital transformation and technology themes, given the powerful effect of digital on the future of the profession, will continue into his second term.

Andrew is CEO and founder of Dolfinblue Chartered Accountants, an accountancy business specialising in flexible finance functions. Prior to founding the business, he gained experience, including internationally, in CFO and Finance Director positions. Andrew also holds additional ICAEW volunteering roles as Chair of the Practitioner Business Advisers’ Community Strategy group and as member of ICAEW’s Council.

Andrew will represent over 6,600 ICAEW Chartered Accountants living and working in the local area. His role as President will focus on developing close connections with and between members by bringing new and innovative events and initiatives to the area.

ICAEW Birmingham and West Midlands plays an important role in supporting local members to address the unprecedented challenges facing the accountancy profession and businesses, such as digitalisation, modernisation of tax systems, Brexit and how businesses will recover from COVID-19. It also plays an important role in facilitating networking for professionals through local activities and initiatives.

Speaking of his appointment, Andrew said, ‘The topic of digital transformation will be supplemented later in 2021 with sustainability and climate change themes, following the Glasgow-hosted UN Climate Change conference, COP26. ICAEW and its members are leading players in driving the needed change to protect the environment for future generations. With many early career committee members and a vibrant student society, the future looks bright for our profession in the West Midlands.

Ben Powell ACA of Ballards has been re-appointed as Deputy President, Khuram Javed ACA of DKR as Vice President and Tracey James FCA of Holder Blackthorn as Treasurer.

Rebecca Crowther ACA of Crowe UK LLP has been elected as Chair of ICAEW Worcestershire, for a two-year term 2021-23.
