Meet the Trustees

Our experienced board of Trustees guide and steer ICAEW Foundation agreeing our strategy, approving our spending decisions and gauging our impact.

Arthur Bailey FCA

A previous ICAEW President and ICAEW Board chairman (2014-2015), Arthur spent all of his professional career in practice, retiring in 2003 as Senior Partner of a national firm comprising over 900 partners and staff. During that time, and since, he has held a number of non-executive roles in both the private and public sectors, including highly regulated financial sectors, which included a term as chairman of a Building Society.

Arthur’s experience has included membership of the Takeover and Mergers Panel (2014 to 2015) and now as a non-executive director of an international business in the surf leisure industry, with bases in Perth WA and California. He has been a consultant with Begbies Traynor since 2004 and with Kingston Smith between 2012 and 2017.

In 2019, Arthur became the Chairman of CAT Ltd (Chartered Accountants Trustees) having been a director of the board since 2015. He has previously held a significant number of committee positions at ICAEW including on ICAEW Council for 19 years and on the Audit, Nominations and Remuneration Committees respectively.

Shauna Bevan

"Shauna

Shauna is Head of Investment Advisory at RiverPeak Wealth, a private client advisory firm which she joined in January 2017. Prior to that she was Co-Head of Collectives Research and Portfolio Management at national wealth manager, Charles Stanley. She has over twenty years investment experience across multiple asset classes and geographies.

Shauna is also a school governor and sits on the finance sub-committee of an Oxford College trust. She graduated from University College, Oxford with a degree in Classics and also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Finance from Birkbeck, University of London. Her professional qualifications and designations include the IMC, CFA Level 1 and Chartered MSCI.

Mike Hicks, BSc (Econ); FCA; DChA

Mike recently retired from practice as an audit partner with Crowe UK LLP having been with that firm since he first started training to be a ICAEW Chartered Accountant. He served as a member of the Executive team and as Crowe’s finance partner for a number of years, specialising throughout in the audits of a varied portfolio of charitable and not for profit organisations. A significant area of specialism was in endowed charities making grants as well as a number of high-profile national charities.

Outside of his professional career Mike still serves as the chair of the finance committee of a single academy school and its two linked charities. Mike is also a Trustee of a small charity which owns and safeguards playing fields for the public benefit, situated in the village where he lives. Mike is married with two daughters in their twenties and includes sport in his main interests, where he still plays (to a fashion) for the local cricket team.

Andrew Ratcliffe FCA

"Andrew

Andrew Ratcliffe is a past President of ICAEW. He spent his career with PwC as lead engagement partner for the audits of a number of large international companies in a range of industries. He is now a director of Barclays Bank UK PLC and chair of its Audit Committee. Andrew is also a trustee, and chair of Audit Committee, of a number of charities.

Susan Smith FCA

Susan is currently Associate Dean (Education and Students) at the University of Sussex Business School where she lectures in accounting. She is a member of the ICAEW Council and contributes to a number of professional committees. Susan entered academia in 2013 following a career in practice and business. She is passionate about the transformative power of education and helping students make the links between theory and practice. She has been involved with the work of the ICAEW Foundation since 2018.

Andrew Wauchope BA, FCISI

"Andrew

Andrew Wauchope has specialised in investment management and the charity sector throughout his 30 years in the investment industry. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) and has been a visiting lecturer at the Cass Business School. He is a trustee of the Masonic Charitable Foundation, the Harrow Mission Trust and also sits on the Court of the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers, a London Livery Company. He is currently a Senior Investment Director at Psigma Investment Management.
