Biography
Mark is an ICAEW Chartered Accountant. He originally trained with a Big 4 firm in Scotland, becoming a member of ICAS in 1986.
Post qualification he initially worked in investment banking and industry before spending the majority of his career as a Corporate Finance Partner with Deloitte in London. His leadership roles at Deloitte included being Partner in Charge of London (10 years) and Global Leader (5 years), both roles within the Corporate Finance Advisory practice. During that period he joined the ICAEW Corporate Finance Faculty board in 2011 and served as Faculty Chair 2015-2018.
Since his retirement from Deloitte in 2018, he has taken on a number of non-executive roles with both private and public companies. He is a past Chairman of Arran Sense of Scotland Limited and of Smithson Investment Trust plc.
He currently serves as Chairman of Burgess Hodgson, an ICAEW member firm which is backed by private equity. He is also the Senior Independent Director on the board of the Institute of Directors.
