William is a retired Chartered Accountant with a professional career spanning nearly four decades. for over 25-years, William focused on emerging technologies and advised governments and regulators on their adoption and governance. Prior to his retirement, William was a partner at PwC China and Hong Kong driving digital transformation and disruption of the assurance business.
William is experienced in the regulation and risk management of crypto currencies and digital assets, including central bank digital currencies, Stablecoins, and tokenisation of Real-World Assets. William is also knowledgeable of carbo trading mechanisms and is experienced in the provision of ESG related assurance.
William is currently involved in the development of best practice standards for virtual assets, with emphasis on the tokenisation of Real-World Assets. William is also involved in the development of professional assurance guidance relating to the assurance of Stablecoin reserves in response to the newly enacted law on Stablecoins.
William is participating in efforts by the IESBA to address the ethical impact of emerging technologies, including AI and Blockchain on the accounting profession. William is also working to raise awareness of the Quantum Threat; he is involved in pilots relating to the adoption of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), and advising on the transition to PQC.
