Khuram is a Liverpool University Computer Science graduate with a master’s degree in accounting and financial management from Lancaster University. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a regional West Midlands firm, going on to work for the Worcester office of a national practice as well as the Midlands office of a top 10 audit firm. He gained a large variety of experience from these firms, in particular attaining considerable experience in business compliance and advising on taxation matters.
During this time, Khuram also become involved with the Worcester Group of Chartered Accountants and started to get more involved with the ICAEW. In 2014, he went on to form DKR and, whilst working for himself, became chair of the Worcester Group of Chartered Accountants. Since founding DKR, they have grown the firm to a regional strength with almost 40 staff and three offices. The firm has a particular specialism in Tax and Business Advisory.
Khuram's main interests lie in startups and business advisory, as well as developing the standards of chartered accountants in the workplace. He has successfully worked with numerous businesses and grown family businesses to multimillion pound groups.
Since his introduction to the district society, Khuram went on to join the Birmingham District Board and became chair in 2024. He also sits on the ICAEW’s regional strategy board and has been an active participant in ICAEW events for many years, both locally and nationally. Khuram is a well-established social media user with a sizeable following, and he shares accounting and finance content regularly.
