ICAEW Academy at Virtually Live

Virtually Live 2021 - 15-17 June

ICAEW's Academy returned to support Virtually Live for the second year, with trainers providing sessions on financial reporting and the future of finance.

Financial reporting update

Against the backdrop of Brexit, the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact of climate-related considerations, financial reporting continues to be challenging, particularly in areas of judgement and estimation.

Focussing on the most prominent of these areas, ICAEW Academy Trainer Jean-Maré Franklin explores current challenges and best practice when applying IFRS and FRS 102.

Future of finance: are you ready?

Finance is evolving quickly, but many of us remain unclear about what that future holds for our work and finance organisations.

Oliver Deacon, a former finance director at Microsoft and finance innovation specialist will talk about how finance is expected to evolve over the next 10 years, and how leaders and teams from all sizes of organisation can start that journey.

Virtually Live 2020

A number of ICAEW Academy's trainers participated in a number of sessions at Virtually Live, including:

Effectively leading remote teams

Oliver Deacon covered why effectively leading remote teams is now an essential skill for all leaders. As teams have transitioned to home working, productivity, transparency and cohesion have been materially impacted. In this session hear what leaders can do to help their teams succeed remotely.

The future of finance

This panel discussion examined the seismic transformation of finance and how finance leaders can practically leverage the opportunities of this digital revolution through technologies like cloud, process automation and machine learning. The discussion focuses on real-life applications of technology in the finance function.
