Are you selling overseas? If so, become an Export Advocate!

ICAEW’s Exporting Community have collaborated with the Department for International Trade (DIT) to highlight their export advocate campaign. This highlights UK businesses which are successfully exporting overseas, and ties in with the DIT’s strategy to grow exports as a share of GDP increase the amount of businesses exporting from 30% to 35%.

Department for International Trade logoThe Department for International Trade’s Exporting is GREAT campaign, which launched in 2015, aims to spark a movement around the UK of companies selling their products and services overseas. It focuses on raising awareness of the benefits of exporting, communicating where to go for support, and inspiring more companies to start trading internationally (or to expand their current reach).

At the heart of the campaign are its ‘Export Advocate’; everyday businesses of all shapes and sizes from around the UK that are proudly selling overseas. They form a nationwide network of UK companies that are ambassadors for exporting; sharing success stories, offering practical advice and leading by example. The network – which is expanding rapidly – consists of companies from across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales in a wide range of sectors.

Why become an Export Advocate?

By signing up to be an Export Advocate, a company will:

  • become part of Exporting is GREAT, the government’s most ambitious export-focused campaign ever, created to help drive substantial growth of the UK economy
  • join a UK-wide network of like-minded, proud exporters who will be central to an online community where companies can go to ask questions, get advice on overcoming barriers, and find out where to get specific support
  • have access to a suite of customisable digital Exporting is GREAT assets to use in communication/marketing activity and show support for the campaign
  • be considered for the campaign’s creative and related PR, social-media and advertising activity

Worldwide exports for UK snack business

One company which is successfully selling overseas is gourmet-popcorn producer Joe and Seph’s. The London-based firm, which has received export support from the government, has sold to buyers in 25 countries, including the USA, China, France, Australia and Qatar. The company is a proud supporter of the Exporting is GREAT campaign and is one of its Export Advocate.
