On-demand webinars to support you
As our lives and work have moved online, so has our events and learning. Over the last 3 months, ICAEW has run a number of webinars that have been designed to provide members with the support and guidance they need to continue working effectively throughout the crisis. For local members, Megan Fitzpatrick at London Accountant has summarised some of the most watched and highly rated resources.
June 2020
Both the recordings and live webinars cover the latest technical updates, support for businesses and the impact on the wider economy. You can view the full list of upcoming and on-demand webinars here.
The Economy
For the macroeconomic view of the pandemic, Trevor Williams, the former Chief Economist at Lloyds Bank, gave insight into the economic outlook for the UK post COVID-19. With the IMF describing the global decline as the worst since the Great Depression of the 1930s, this webinar was designed to help viewers navigate the way forward in a time of uncertainty.
Williams drew similarities between the economic landscape in 1918 with the Spanish Flu pandemic and end of the First World War. However, it was not all doom and gloom as Williams optimistically explored the possibility that COVID-19 will give rise to new opportunities and allow us to build a better global future.

In June, ICAEW is running another webinar focused on the economic cost of the crisis. In this session, Oxford Economics will be presenting their 12-month regional analysis of the UK economy. You will find the link to register or watch the webinar on demand here.
Government Funding
Many individuals, businesses and firms have been able to access some form of Government support. ICAEW’s Tax Faculty ran two webinars in April which outlined guidance on how to approach the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme. These webinars have attracted thousands of views. However, with policy and regulation changing so quickly, their content has quickly dated and you can access the most relevant and timely support on these information landing pages:

Personal Finance Planning
With the volatile market, many people’s personal finances have also taken a hit. In a series of ‘wealth-care’ webinars, ICAEW has been highlighting the key considerations that individuals need to be aware of when reviewing and managing their personal finances in a time of unprecedented disruption.
The next wealth-care webinar is scheduled for the 9 June, in which the focus of the session will be property advice. You can find details of this webinar and the past recordings here.
Remote working
We have all had to adapt to working remotely. Whilst we are now used to communicating by using technology rather than face-to-face, it is important to consider how we can continually improve our new working lives. The ICAEW Life Stages Community ran this webinar to give you helpful hints and tips on how to talk professionally and present yourself online.
If you would like to see a webinar on a subject that we have not yet covered, please let us know here.
