Manchester Chartered Accountants Students’ Society (MCASS)
Manchester Chartered Accountants Students’ Society (MCASS) aims to support and assist members of the society on all matters relating to their learning, training and professional development. We act as a support network through your training years.
Elections are held annually to ensure an upward flow from the student body to Office Holders, which is the governing board of the society. Due to MCASS’s charitable status, elected members of the Committee therefore also become trustees of the charity, details of which are filed annually with Companies House and the Charities Commission.
What we do
Juggling the pressures of work and study is no easy feat, having the right support structure around you is central to your success. Here at MCASS, we say you can do it all – work, study, and play – and we are here to help you every step of the way through your ACA.
We provide a host of networking events, personal development seminars and insightful talks. We hope that by the time you achieve your ACA you’re a prolific networker, with a great insight into all the opportunities a career with the ACA can offer!
Here in Manchester we’re delighted to partner with BPP to offer FREE revision sessions… regardless of who your training provider is! The sessions cover both professional and advanced papers – in which tutors give focused tips on the tricky topics that students are likely to have to tackle – we want you to be as confident as possible when you enter the exam hall!
We take pride in our ability to put on excellent social events! We also realise that for some training in smaller firms, these are important opportunities to connect with other trainees, build your support network and let your hair down after stressful periods of work and study! We have flagship annual events such as the Summer Games and the MCASS ball, as well as events to coincide with the end of exams, to welcome new starters etc. You’ll find details of all the events through our LinkedIn Group.
With such a busy calendar of events MCASS are always pleased to hear from trainees who would like to get involved. If you are interested in joining the MCASS committee please contact Alana Briggs.
We are currently recruiting for Firm Representatives; this position helps to strengthen our links with members and their employers. Firm Reps receive information on MCASS news and events, then distribute it to fellow trainees/peers/network within their firm.
