Budget 2021 date confirmed
17 December 2020: Rishi Sunak has confirmed that Budget 2021 will take place on 3 March and will provide further information on COVID-19 support packages.
In a written ministerial statement to Parliament today, the Chancellor provided the long-awaited date of the next UK Budget as 3 March 2021.
He also confirmed that it would provide more information on the economic support available in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The government has not held a formal fiscal event since 11 March 2020, and the expectation had been that a second Budget would be held in Autumn 2020.
The delay has seen the devolved governments push back their fiscal events. The Welsh Assembly is now set to publish its draft Budget on 21 December and the Scottish Government has postponed its Budget until 28 January 2021.
