COVID-19: Reduced hours on HMRC helplines
25 March: ICAEW's Tax Faculty advises that, due to fewer advisers, HMRC has reduced opening hours on helplines.
Fewer advisers means that HMRC has reduced the opening hours on its helplines to help it cope with the current crisis.
All HMRC's helplines are now open 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday and are closed at weekends.
Alternative ways to contact HMRC include:
- Webchat (available from the relevant HMRC contact page)
- By using your Personal Tax Account or Business Tax Account
- HMRC's online forums - there are separate forums for taxpayers and agents. (Information on how to access the agent forum)
The Tax Faculty has produced a TAXguide on contacting HMRC.
