CABA launches Brexit support campaign for ICAEW members
11 February 2020: CABA has launched its Brexit support campaign with a new online hub as well as events across Europe and the UK for ICAEW members affected by Brexit.
The wellbeing charity’s Brexit services will include tailored legal, UK benefits and pensions advice as well as emotional support with a 24-hour helpline, all of which are freely accessible through their website. CABA also plans to send flyers and emails to ICAEW members in the EU and distribute material at EU and UK events and workshops to help manage the impact of Brexit.
This comes at a time when studies have revealed that “political events can take a serious toll on mental health” (British Medical Journal). The BMJ Case Reports (October 2019) cite surveys which found that the EU referendum result was one of the “major sources of anxiety among the young” in the UK.
CABA’s services can be accessed by past and present ICAEW members, ACA students, ICAEW staff, their spouses, life partners and dependent children up to the age of 25.
ICAEW’s Brexit hub also offers resources to help the profession prepare for the 11-month transition period, and what comes after. Its checklist, for example, considers the 10 things that businesses should prepare for during the transition period following the UK’s departure from the EU on 31 January 2020.
