Members have until noon on 17 November 2026 to submit applications for one of 34 geographical seats. To stand for a seat, vote or nominate a candidate, a member’s registered ICAEW address must be within the relevant election area.
If a constituency has more candidates than vacancies in the elections, a ballot will be held. This will take place between 8 February and 2 March 2027.
The results will be announced in March 2027, with successful candidates serving a four-year term from 1 June 2027. New Council members will receive a full induction.
In the London constituency, where there are eight seats, the four candidates with the most votes will be elected for a four-year term. The four candidates with the next highest number of votes will serve a two-year term.
“Being mindful of the value that diversity brings, Council is particularly looking for members from a diverse range of backgrounds, who bring a range of thinking, experience, skills and competencies to enable ICAEW to fulfil its purpose and achieve its goals,” a 3 November Council elections notice explains.
Help shape the future
ICAEW’s Council represents the profession across sectors, regions and career stages. Serving on the Council is an opportunity to represent members, influence the profession’s future, help shape ICAEW’s strategy, policy and priorities and bring real-world insight to Council decisions.
ICAEW CEO Alan Vallance says: “By standing, you can bring the views of members in your area right to the heart of our decisions. You’ll also broaden your network and gain valuable governance and board-level experience.
“You don’t need prior experience or all the answers. You just need to care about our profession and want to make a positive difference. Please consider putting yourself forward - or encourage someone you know who would make a valuable contribution.”
