The qualified person responsible for training, also known as the QPRT, manages the delivery of ACA training within your organisation and is the main point of contact with us.

The QPRT takes an active lead in the development of students and ensures that the ICAEW training standards are maintained and followed. are maintained and followed.

Who can become a QPRT?

The QPRT must hold a position of responsibility and have decision-making power in relation to training and development. They must:

  • be a member of an IFAC full membership body, or other equivalent recognised body at the discretion of ICAEW;
  • have at least two years of membership of your professional body; and
  • be a partner, director or equivalent within your organisation.

There is just one QPRT per training office - irrespective of the size of the organisation. The QPRT can delegate six monthly reviews to a formally appointed counsellor but maintains responsibility for adhering to our training standards and performing final sign off.

Person responsible for sign off

A person responsible for sign off (PRSO) can be appointed by the QPRT where the number of ACA students registered would make it impossible or unreasonable for the QPRT to sign off all the required student records and reviews. A PRSO must meet the same criteria as a QPRT, as they will be required to carry out the same function as a QPRT.

Responsibilities of a QPRT

A QPRT is responsible for:

  1. Ensuring their organisation is adhering to our training standards and ICAEW Authorised Training Employer regulations
  2. Ensuring all ACA students have a signed, up-to-date training agreement in place.
  3. Updating and cancelling training agreements.
  4. Creating an effective six-monthly review process within their organisation.
  5. Conducting six-monthly reviews or, appointing and training counsellors to assist them with conducting six monthly reviews.
  6. Conducting a final sign off at the end of a training agreement to confirm a student is fit and proper for ICAEW membership.
