The Open Data Institute was founded by Sir Tim Berners-Lee (inventor of the world wide web) and Sir Nigel Shadbolt, and is now entering its second decade. In our keynote session, Stuart Coleman from the ODI will talk about its missions, the importance of data ethics and how an open data ecosystem can benefit everyone.

In this session, Jez Clark and Nicholas Deveney (Eden Smith), will walk you through what good organisational design looks like, from the perspective of building a data team. They'll also discuss where accountancy and data skills align and diverge as well as provide industry relevant benchmarking data and actionable advice to help you attract data talent to your organisation.

In this role, Fay is exploring ways of upskilling and reskilling staff in digital topics such as Data; striving to make training relevant, contextual and accessible for all, to keep up with the ever-changing technology landscape that we face.

Franki maintains an academic sideline researching open accounting data. In a previous role as Head of the Data Analytics Research Team at the UK National Audit Office, Franki lead a world-leading team of auditors and data scientists to develop data analytics tools for the audit of government bodies in the UK. Franki is a trained data scientist and auditor, is involved in multiple transnational audit, tax, and public finance initiatives, and sits on the ICAEW Ethics Advisory Committee as well as the Data Analytics Community Advisory Group.

Ian joined ICAEW as Head of Data Analytics and Tech in March 2022, looking at the role that analytics and technology solutions play in the profession, and supporting ICAEW's members in their exploration and development of knowledge around technology. Prior to this, Ian worked for over 10 years at PwC in Data Analytics, specialising in External Audit and Data Acquisition and developing robust data transformation processes. Ian is passionate about digital upskilling, and has previously trained as a secondary school teacher and a musician.

Dr Christina J Phillips
Dr Christina J Phillip Senior Lecturer Business Analytics, Liverpool John Moores University

Dr Phillips is a pracademic and erstwhile sculptor who specialises in the human centred design of analytics. She has a degree in Applied Mathematics and gained her PhD while working in industry as a Business Analyst. She is a Director/Trustee at the Operational Research Society and a Senior Lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University.

Sarah Schlobohm
Dr Sarah Schlobohm Artificial Intelligence Lead

Dr Schlobohm is an active voice in the Artificial Intelligence space and has been an ICAEW member since 2015. After a PhD in particle physics, she completed a graduate scheme at PWC in Audit and Data Assurance. As a director in Financial Crime Compliance at HSBC, she used data science to fight money laundering and terrorist financing. She's recently been developing future generations of Machine Learning Engineers to work alongside clients from the FTSE 100 and beyond.
