Library services during COVID-19

Find out how to contact the Library, borrow and return books, access eBooks and digital resources, and get expert help from our enquiry and advisory teams.

ICAEW Library & Information Services continues to provide books loans, enquiry and research services, and digital resources to members and other users remotely while Chartered Accountants Hall in London remains closed due to coronavirus restrictions.

How can I contact the Library enquiry team?

Email us at library@icaew.com or get in touch via web chat. We are available from 9:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday (UK time).

The phone line is currently unavailable.

How can I access eBooks?

We offer instant, full text access to hundreds of eBook titles on key business and reference topics. Browse the A–Z by title or browse by subject.

How can I borrow books?

Email us at library@icaew.com to arrange a postal loan if there's a particular book you want to borrow. You can also contact us if you would like some help finding or choosing books on a topic. You can also search on the library catalogue for ideas.

Although our turnaround time will not be as quick as usual, we have members of staff visiting the Business Centre at least once a week.

If another member is borrowing a book you were interested in, we will reserve the title for you and ask them to return it once they have had it checked-out for more than three weeks.

How can I renew books?

At this stage, we are automatically renewing all borrowed books and emailing members with the extended due-back dates.

How can I return books to the Library?

Please post any returns to:

Library book returns

11 Copthall Avenue

If you wish to return books in person, you can safely drop them off at the reception desk at Chartered Accountants Hall, at the Copthall Avenue entrance. You will not be able to access the Business Centre.

How can I access magazines and journals?

We provide access to hundreds of business, management and trade magazines via EBSCO Business Source Corporate Plus – check the journals section to browse by topic, title or search directly.

How can I access databases like FAME?

We cannot provide direct remote access to databases, but the enquiry team will be happy to help with your research and can email you documents or search results.

We have access to BVD Suite, Croner-i Tax and Accounting, Equifax, FAME, IBFD Tax Research Platform, International Corporate Procedures (now available through Lexis Library), Lexis Library, PwC Inform, Taylor & Francis, and TaxHub. See our databases page for more information about these platforms.
