First female 'Big 4' leaders

UK chair

Bina Mehta was appointed non-executive UK Chair of KPMG in February 2021, following the firm’s transition to a new governance model separating the roles of its Chair and Chief Executive. Initially appointed on an interim basis, she was elected in November that year to continue in role until the end of February 2024. Her term was later extended again until the end of March 2026.

Mehta has worked for KPMG for over 30 years. In 2022 she was awarded an MBE for her work in supporting female entrepreneurs and services to trade investment. She also holds the position of Honorary Fellow in Entrepreneurship at Cambridge Judge Business School. Mehta is an ICAEW Fellow and has a BA (hons.) from Bayes Business School.

Alison Duncan was appointed UK Chair of EY in March 2025 after the roles of UK Chair and managing partner had been separated. Anna Antony (see below) was appointed to the Managing Partner role, making EY the first of the Big Four firms in the UK to have women in both of its most senior roles. Duncan had been with EY for 30 years, 20 as partner and her previous role was as EY's Head of Regulatory and Public Policy. Duncan is an ICAEW member.

UK executive leader

In October 2024, Anna Anthony was appointed to the position of UK and Ireland Regional Managing Partner at EY and will take up the role on the 1 January 2025.

Anthony trained with PWC before joining EY over 20 years ago. She became a partner in 2008, has been the head of EY's UK financials services and on the EY UK LLP board since 2021. Anthony is a an ICAEW member, qualifying in 2002. She has a Law degree from Cambridge University.

Mary O'Connor had previously been appointed interim CEO of KPMG in 2021, but did not get appointed to the permanent position.

Other leadership roles

Allee Bonnard is appointed as Deloitte's UK Managing Partner for Audit & Assurance, effective from 1 January 2025. She becomes the first woman to lead Deloitte's audit and assurance business in the UK.
