Providing a record of ICAEW’s activities, financial performance and strategic development over time, these publications are a key resource for researchers in accounting history. Some editions can be accessed online; others may be consulted in print format.

An incomplete collection of past annual reviews and financial statements from 1930 onwards is accessible online via the ICAEW Digital Archive.

Print holdings in the ICAEW Library

All editions of the Institute's annual review and financial statements (except for the 2020 edition) are held in print format by the ICAEW Library. Full details of our holdings — which begin with the 1881 edition — can be found in the relevant catalogue record.

If you are planning to visit the Library to consult specific reports, please email us in advance at library@icaew.com — many older editions are held in an off-site store but can be brought to the Business Centre for consultation. Alternatively, you can request extracts through our document supply service.

Publication history

Over the years, these publications have been issued under a variety of different titles and sub-titles, and in various formats.

Notably, from 1997 to 2018, the annual review was published separately from the full financial statements, with the former having its own catalogue record.
