Historical ICAEW annual reviews and financial statements

The ICAEW Library & Information Service holds every edition of the Institute's annual review and financial statements. On this page you can find information on these publications and how to access them.

Providing a record of ICAEW’s activities, financial performance and strategic development over time, these publications are a key resource for researchers in accounting history. Editions from 2002 onwards can be accessed online; earlier editions are held in print format.
For the most recent edition, please see the annual report page.

Online access: ICAEW Digital Archive

Past annual reviews and financial statements from 2002 onwards are available online via the ICAEW Digital Archive.

Print holdings in the ICAEW Library

All editions prior to 2002 are held in print format by the ICAEW Library. Full details of our holdings — which begin with the 1881 edition — can be found in the relevant catalogue record.

If you are planning to visit the Library to consult specific reports, please email us in advance at library@icaew.com — many older editions are held in an off-site store but can be brought to the Business Centre for consultation. Alternatively, you can request extracts through our document supply service.

Publication history

Over the years, these publications have been issued under a variety of different titles and sub-titles, and in various formats.

Notably, from 1997 to 2018, the annual review was published separately from the full financial statements, with the former having its own catalogue record.
