New guidance: Businesses welcome new guidances on workplace ventilation

Employers have welcomed new, free guidances from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Scottish Government on how to ventilate the workplace properly – particularly to help avoid the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

Employers are required by law to provide adequate fresh air in the workplace, whether through windows, doors and vents, and/or use of fans and ventilation ducts. This is particularly important now, given that good ventilation helps prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The new guidances ‘Ventilation during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic: Latest advice on keeping workplaces safe from COVID-19’ and ‘Coronavirus (COVID-19): ventilation guidance’ provide basic, practical guidance to help employers comply with their legal obligations and reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
