Prospective directors will welcome a new online toolkit from Companies House to help them understand the duties and responsibilities that will come with their role, and what they should consider when setting up and running a limited company.

It covers:

  • What Companies House is and what it does.
  • Whether incorporating a limited company is the right choice.
  • Things to consider before becoming a director.
  • Who can help the prospective director on their business journey.

The toolkit includes a number of short but concise videos, each of which is followed by a series of multiple choice questions to test how much the prospective director has taken from the video.

The new toolkit is the latest in a family of such toolkits, the others being ‘New and existing company directors’ and ‘Flat management companies’.

The toolkits can be accessed via the online ‘Guidance: Being a company director’, which also contains helpful information in text and video form on directors’ responsibilities to Companies House and directors’ general statutory duties.
