Employers will welcome the opportunity to consider and comment on draft guidance from Acas on handling requests to shift to more predictable working patterns from zero-hours and other workers with unpredictable hours.

The draft guidance ‘Acas consultation on the draft Code of Practice on handling requests for a predictable working pattern’ covers new laws, due to come into force during 2024, that are intended to stop one-sided contracts between employers and workers with unpredictable work patterns, including agency workers – often referred to as ‘one-sided flexibility’.

The consultation is open until 17 January 2024.

It is anticipated that Acas will also produce a non-statutory guide containing more detailed guidance.
