IPs: are you ready for a CPD monitoring review in 2027?

Author: Professional Standards Department

Published: 12 May 2026

All ICAEW-licensed insolvency practitioners (IPs) should be prepared for the possibility of a CPD monitoring review in 2027. Use ICAEW’s resources to help you ensure that, if you are selected, you are ready for the review.

During 2027, ICAEW’s Quality Assurance Department will include a random sample of IPs (both members and non-members) within our CPD monitoring programme.

We will look at:

  • whether you have assigned yourself to the correct CPD category;
  • your CPD records to 31 October 2026 (or to your firm’s CPD year-end);
  • whether your CPD is relevant; and
  • whether you have met the minimum number of hours (including the one-hour mandatory ethics training).

Note your CPD activity will not be reviewed via an insolvency monitoring review. This is because CPD monitoring has been a separate process since ICAEW’s CPD Regulations were updated in 2023.

The following ICAEW resources will help you understand our requirements:

Free insolvency CPD resources

ICAEW provides a minimum of seven hours of free insolvency CPD each year, with its roadshow and webinar programmes. These include an insolvency-specific ethical session.

ICAEW IPs can also access recordings from previous years’ Restructuring & Insolvency Community webinars and events
