On 1 October, ICAEW’s Professional Standards Department became Regulation & Conduct - a clearer, more representative name for the work the division does today to uphold standards, strengthen trust in the profession and act in the public interest. The change also aligns with our Regulation & Conduct 2030 Strategy and our role as an improvement regulator.
As part of this change, the ICAEW Regulatory Board (IRB) has become the ICAEW Regulation & Conduct Board (IRCB).
The new name brings together the breadth of our responsibilities: regulating effectively, supporting members and firms to meet high professional standards, and taking action where those standards are not met. It reflects how our work has evolved and the important role we play in protecting the public, maintaining trust and building confidence in the profession.
Although the name is changing, our purpose and commitment remain the same. We will continue to work constructively with colleagues, oversight bodies, government and organisations across the profession to deliver proportionate, transparent and effective regulation in the public interest.
Members, firms and other stakeholders will now see correspondence, guidance and communications relating to ICAEW’s regulatory and disciplinary work issued under the Regulation & Conduct name.
The change is an important step in making our role clearer and more accessible, while reinforcing our continuing focus on high standards, public confidence and positive outcomes for the profession and the wider public.
