Disciplinary update: July 2025

Take note of the latest disciplinary cases to ensure you or your firm are not making similar mistakes.

Since the last update, one Tribunal Committee tribunal order, eight consent orders from the Conduct Committee and four fixed penalty consent orders have been published.

Included within the latest published orders are the following.

  • Preparing unaudited filleted financial statements and incorrectly claiming small company exemptions under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006.
  • Being a director of a company when the company entered administration.
  • Engaging in public practice without holding a practising certificate for a period of 13 months, contrary to Principal Bye-law 51a.
  • Presenting their ethics training record when they knew or should have known that the information about four employer review meetings was wrong, contrary to s150 (Professional Behaviour) of ICAEW Code of Ethics (effective 1 January 2011 – 31 December 2019) and (Professional Behaviour) of ICAEW Code of Ethics (effective 1 January 2020); and using the designatory letters ACA on a LinkedIn profile when they were not entitled to do so because they were not an Associate ICAEW member as they had not satisfied the requirements of ACA Student Regulation 48.
