Submitting an appeal
If you need to submit an exam disruption appeal following an exam please do not use any special characters in your application such as <, >, &, “, #, or any other character or text pattern that may resemble coding. Using these symbols could affect you submitting your application.
You will know your application has been successfully submitted once you reach the ‘Application Submitted’ page. You will also see your submitted exam disruption appeal on your portal if you click on the ‘Additional Information / Documents’ option, allowing you to amend the details of your appeal. You will also receive an email within 48 hours from examdisruptionappeal@icaew.com confirming receipt of your appeal. If you do not receive confirmation in any of the above ways, you may need to try again ensuring all special characters are removed or contact our student support team for further assistance.
What is an exam disruption appeal?
An exam disruption appeal is a request to ICAEW to take account of disruption during your exam, during final results determination. An appeal outcome is made after marking, the marker or examiner is not to be made aware of the appeal.
You can submit an exam disruption appeal when something occurs during your exam which is beyond your control, and which has an adverse impact on your performance.
You cannot submit an exam disruption appeal for anything which occurred and/or was known before the exam, even if the impact continued into the exam. You cannot submit an exam disruption appeal if you did not raise the issue during the exam (you should usually raise the issue with your centre invigilator, or a remote invigilation support agent).
When can I raise an exam disruption appeal?
The deadline to apply for exam disruption appeal is seven days from your exam. For example, if you sit an exam on a Monday you will have until 23:59 the following Monday to submit your exam disruption appeal application. You will need to apply for exam disruption appeal individually per exam.
How do I submit an exam disruption appeal?
If you wish to apply for an exam disruption appeal, you must complete the online exam disruption appeal application form with any supporting evidence within seven days of the exam. Once your application has been logged, you will receive a confirmation email to confirm we have received it.
