Message from Faculty head

I would like to thank you for your membership in 2018; we sincerely value your support, and trust you have found being a member worthwhile. I am also writing to remind you that the renewal process for 2019 Audit and Assurance Faculty membership is up and running.

What’s been happening in 2018?

Dr Nigel Sleigh-Johnson

The faculty has added to its array  of guidance, ranging from the updated Technical Release on Bannerman and example audit reports to authoritative guidance on many of the special reports provided to regulators. In 2018, we published Scepticism: The Practitioner’s Take, which gives auditors a voice on this key challenge. We also published a number of reports for internal auditors, including How to Audit Culture. These publications had a significant impact internationally. Our webinar programme and monthly Faculty magazine Audit & Beyond continued to keep members up to date on a wide variety of topics.

The impacts of UK audit reform have been an area of focus and we have been contributing significantly to the debate on the future of audit. We also continued to influence international and national standard setting, through for example the major event held in January on the Monitoring Group’s proposals and close involvement in the development of new auditing standards.

Supporting your development in 2019

Next year, our areas of focus will continue to include UK audit reform and support on Brexit, as well as looking at developments in smaller entity audits and quality control. We will be building our digital product offering, and expanding our webinar programme. We will continue to provide you with a range of resources to help you meet your CPD requirements and improve your career prospects.

Our monthly bulletin, magazine and webinar programme will continue to be available exclusively to Faculty members. Members will also benefit from a special discount for our roadshows. We will also be holding our first Faculty conference in October, which will cover a range of topics, including the impact of technology on audit and assurance, again available to Faculty members only.

Don't forget to renew your membership via your ICAEW annual return or by using this link and let the Faculty continue to inform and support you through another busy year.

With best wishes,

Dr Nigel Sleigh-Johnson
