Since most of the articles in these newsletters tend to be of more general application (and have been somewhat downbeat recently), it is encouraging to hear that the poultry industry in the UK seems to be performing well.

UK poultry meat production is currently at a high and, with most major supermarkets now choosing (at this point in time – it is anticipated that legislation may follow) to work with suppliers who opt for a lower stocking density of birds, farmers are generally seeing fairly consistent profits as higher quality birds command higher prices.

On the downside, avian flu is still causing issues in some areas, with outbreaks in wild birds in poultry. The NFU have an AI case finder which can be used to find current and lifted cases:
