Playing the imitation game with challenger banks

While imitation is said to be the greatest form of flattery, Starling Bank’s Anne Boden explains how the challenger bank is leading the way with innovation

FS Focus Dec 19 image AVIt is said that imitation is the greatest form of flattery. In recent months high street banks have begun introducing a range of ‘new’ features in their mobile apps. These new features include being able to log in with Face ID; the ability to see all their accounts in one place and quickly pay someone new; and being able to categorise spending so customers can keep track of how much is being spent on groceries, eating out and general living expenses each month.

These are all things that Starling Bank has been doing since it launched in 2014. What this shows is that Starling has not only just changed banking for its own customers, but that it is disrupting an entire industry.
