TAXline News: March 2020

Frank Haskew, Head of the Tax Faculty, reports on recent developments at the Tax Faculty during March 2020.

With the Budget set for 11 March 2020, the Tax Faculty sent a letter to the Financial Secretary to the Treasury with some detailed suggestions for inclusion. We argued that the UK tax system is far too complicated for the ordinary person to understand and that, across a range of taxes, it contains many features that discourage growth and productivity. We recommended that there should be a strategic review of the UK tax system aimed at simplifying it and relieving some of these pressure points.

The Tax Faculty team will be producing our usual report on the main measures. In addition, we are holding a Budget webinar on 13 March and look forward to you joining us and asking questions.
