The 2026 New Years Honours list includes 10 ICAEW members, who have been awarded for services that go beyond their career achievements.
Among this year’s cohort are Margaret Ewing, former Managing Partner of Deloitte, who received a CBE for her services to finance. She became the youngest and first female partner at Kidson’s aged just 27 in the late 70s, before joining Touche Ross, which became Deloitte. From there, she became Corporate Finance Partner at Deloitte, a position she held until 1999, before moving into business. She later returned to Deloitte to become Managing Partner.
Bobby Seagull, the mathematics teacher, broadcaster and writer, is also an ICAEW member. He received an MBE for services to public libraries, through his role as ambassador for the Reading Agency, which aims to get more people interested in reading. He presented a 10-point manifesto for libraries at the House of Lords in 2020 and advocated long-term funding for libraries.
Richard Rosenberg, who recently stepped down as the longest serving Trustee of the Teenage Cancer Trust, received a BEM for his charitable services. Other charity trustees honoured included Michael Marx, who received an MBE for his work as a Trustee of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust.
Jonathan White was awarded an OBE for his work as President of the Rivers Trust, for services to river conservation. “This award really belongs to the many committed people I’ve had the privilege to work with across The Rivers Trust Movement — staff, trustees, and volunteers alike,” he said.
Similarly, Joanna Butlin, Founder, Director and Chair of the Women’s Utility Network, received an OBE for services to net zero and diversity in the energy sector. Gill Whitehead, 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup chair, was honoured with an OBE for services to women's rugby.
