A technical issue resulted in several Companies House online filing services being closed from 12 June until the morning of 16 June. These included webfiling, filing using software as well as the ability to set up a limited company, and register for corporation tax and filing.
As of midday on 16 June, these services were all available again and customers could continue to file as normal, although a delay remained in filings appearing on the public register or in the find-and-update company information service.
Missed deadlines and late penalties
If a filing deadline was missed due to the service issues or delayed and then rejected, Companies House recommends refiling as soon as possible and making a note of the time and date of the previous filing attempt. It has confirmed there is no need for filers to get in touch about the failed filing.
Companies House also confirmed that late-filing penalties will be issued, as it has a legal requirement to do so, but that those who missed deadlines due to the service disruption will be able to appeal. Screenshots and timestamps from failed filing attempts will be taken into account.
