The ACA equips students with essential skills such as time management, clarity under pressure and the ability to interpret financial statements across industries. It explains how these capabilities form a strong foundation for modern careers, especially as the ACA expands into areas like sustainability, ethics, technology and specialised learning. It emphasises that the qualification supports adaptability and long term career growth.

I started the ACA after completing a BSc and an MSc, and after four years of work, so I was a little older than most students in the classroom in Cyprus. That choice came from something simple that has always shaped my career: I genuinely love learning. In fact, when I began, I had no idea what a debit and a credit even were. What I did have was curiosity, discipline, and a willingness to feel like a beginner again. Looking back, that decision was one of the most valuable investments I have made in myself.

The ACA did not just teach technical knowledge. The skill I value most is time management, learning to focus on what truly matters under pressure. The exam setting forces clarity: limited time, high expectations, and the need to extract the key issues quickly. That mindset stayed with me and still guides how I work today. Just as importantly, learning how to read and interpret financial statements gave me a real advantage in understanding how businesses operate across different industries. It helped me build confidence with clients from any sector, because financials tell a story, and the ACA trains you to read it with professional judgement and a strong ethical lens.

This is why I believe the ACA will be particularly powerful for young professionals. Careers are no longer linear, and the most valuable professionals are those who combine solid fundamentals with future ready skills and a commitment to continuous learning. An enhanced focus on areas like sustainability, ethics, technology, and specialised learning reflects what the workplace now demands, not only technical capability, but also adaptability, good judgement, and the confidence to navigate change.

For anyone considering the qualification in Cyprus, my message is straightforward: you do not need to have everything figured out on day one. If you are curious, committed, and ready to learn, the ACA can open doors, build credibility, and give you a foundation that lasts across many different career paths.
