Flagship conferences
ICAEW hosts a suite of conferences each year offering updates and analysis to help practitioners stay ahead of the curve.
ICAEW’s flagship event, the ICAEW Annual Conference will return again in October. This full-day, in-person event will be held at the InterContinental at the O2, offering more spaces after three sell-out years.
The conference brings ICAEW members together to discuss the big issues affecting the profession and to hear from inspirational speakers. This year delegates heard from former England football star Jill Scott, Commonwealth Powerlifting Champion and ICAEW member Karenjeet Kaur Bains and the Bank of England’s Chief Economist Huw Pill. Members wanting to attend can benefit from an early bird discount if they book now.
Looking to the start of 2026, the conference calendar starts with a perennial favourite – ICAEW Charity Conference – and a timely update – MTD Live.
ICAEW’s annual charity event is held virtually over two days, enabling delegates to attend sessions around their work. The conference kicks off on the morning of 22 January with an update from the Chief Executive of the Charity Commission, followed by sessions on banking and AI. Day one closes mid-afternoon and delegates return for another five sessions on Friday morning (23 January). ICAEW members benefit from up to 65% off ticket prices.
MTD Live will be running on 23 February at Chartered Accountants Hall and will be looking ahead to the implementation of MTD for income tax on 6 April. This free event will include a keynote from HMRC’s director of Making Tax Digital, a panel discussion with experts and a series of demonstrations from software providers.
Throughout the rest of the year, ICAEW will be hosting conferences covering developments in audit and assurance, corporate governance, artificial intelligence and digital assets, as well as events focused on specific industries, such as healthcare, farming and property.

Later in the month the Excel Community will be answering your questions on how to get the best out of the software in a live webinar.

Events in your area
ICAEW’s regional and international teams work to create events that bring members together in their area and discuss hop topics and economic trends with a local perspective.
Across the UK regions there are regular meet ups of groups sharing common experiences, seek advice and build trusted networks including:
- sole practitioners;
- small practice;
- business members;
- start ups;
- FDs and CFOs; and
- women in finance.
These meetings are a combination of virtual and in-person meetings and are often free for members. For example, the South West region are holding virtual meetings of its business member insights group on 23 January and 13 March, meanwhile in the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber region the Women in Finance insight group are meeting in Newcastle on 11 February.
Throughout the year all of the regions will be hosting conversations with the Bank of England to discuss the latest findings of the ICAEW Business Confidence Monitor and what it means in your area.
There are also events for members outside of the UK. For example, the Hong Kong team will be hosting its Technical Skills virtual event series in 2026. Available to members, regarless of location, the series will kick off with sessions on AI and Excel for auditors on 14 January and using Power Query and VBA macros for automation on 24 January.
As well as live events, members also have access to many previous online events on-demand. For example, respected tax expert Rebecca Benneyworth provided updates on the UK’s tax regime for international members in December.
