Chris Downing
Chris Downing Director for Accountants and Bookkeepers, Sage

Chris joined Sage having been a partner at a top 100 accountancy firm. He brings nearly 20 years of hands on experience and strategic insight of the profession, coupled with an infectious enthusiasm in the adoption of technology and Business intelligence to improve reporting and drive innovation in the SME sector.

Peter Hamilton
Peter Hamilton FCA, CTA Managing Director, 123Sheets

Peter is the managing director of 123 Sheets, overseeing all aspects of services provided. He is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser. Prior to founding 123 Sheets in 2016, Peter had his own accountancy firm in Guildford for eight years with a town centre office and four members of staff. His practice was built using excel bookkeeping files for clients up to £10 million turnover, which ensured faster compliance bookkeeping and year-end accounts processes compared to similar practices using desktop or online software, making the practice more profitable. Peter is known for his knowledgeable, yet practical approach to interpreting the Making Tax Digital legislation as it applies to accountants and their clients. He is able to explain adeptly how those using spreadsheets can make an orderly transition to Making Tax Digital. Peter has been an entrepreneur in the software development industry since 2009.

Coming from a teaching background I taught accounting for over 10 years. I set up a small accounting practice in 2013 and made the decision from the beginning to run that as a 100% Xero practice. Testimonials

An excellent MTD event after which I feel more able to select compatible MTD software and deal with practical MTD issues raised by my clients.

Delegate MTD Expo 2018

A very interesting and well run day with many opportunities to speak to software providers and others regarding MTD.

Delegate MTD Expo 2018

Thank you ICAEW. It was the first ICAEW based event I have attended for a very long time and found it of very high quality and extremely helpful. Thank you again for arranging this!

Delegate MTD Expo 2018

This event was a really useful forum to get to the bottom of the various options available to meet the MTD for VAT deadline and the crucial steps we all need to take. It also gave opportunities to discuss this with a variety of providers and to hear other practitioner and business viewpoints.

Delegate MTD Expo 2018

Overall this was a really useful day and as it did not incur an attendance charge, this was really useful as I am only in my second year of practice with a small client base at the current time and I have to budget quite carefully at the moment. The speakers were all good or excellent in my opinion and I would definitely recommend to other practitioners as a good way to get comfortable with the introduction of MTD.
