Payroll and reward update 2025

Author: ICAEW Tax Faculty

Published: 07 Apr 2025

Last year, we yearned for the General Election to be over and a return to the certainty and stability needed by payroll, reward and employment law professionals. Whether this has been achieved is unclear, as the transition from one tax year to the next seems to mean more change than ever.

This webinar does not cover all of the rates and allowances that apply in 2025/26 (income tax, National Insurance, SSP, SMP etc.). However, these cannot be ignored and the webinar is supported by TAXguide 02/25: Payroll rates, allowances and thresholds in 2025/26.

Topics covered in this webinar include:

  • the UK's Budgets and highlights from the Spending Review;
  • pension developments;
  • the introduction of Statutory Neonatal Care Leave and Pay;
  • the implications of the Employment Rights Bill; and
  • future development.

This webinar took place almost one year ahead of the mandatory payrolling of expenses and benefits, almost consigning the P11D to HMRC legacy form pile. Whilst much is unknown, we look at what is certain and give tips on how you can prepare for this inevitability.

First broadcast 3 April 2025
