The Chartered Accountants’ Livery Charity is seeking applications for its 2021 bursaries for ICAEW members pursuing a career in academia and undertaking doctoral studies. The Charity is very keen to support the development of ICAEW members as teachers and researchers of accountancy.

Typically a full time-student would receive an annual grant of £5,000 for three years, with part-time students receiving pro rata amounts for a longer period. Applicants must already be members of the ICAEW (ACA or FCA qualified) and have a good honours degree or other equivalent qualification. The quality and contribution of the applicant’s planned research, their commitment to Doctoral studies and intention for an academic career will all be taken into account. The institutions at which students plan to study must be recognised UK universities. The Trustees expect to award up to four new bursaries this year. You can find more information here.

Dr Hilary Lindsay, the chair of the Charity’s Trustees (almoner@accountantslivery.org), or ICAEW Research Manager Gillian Knight (gillian.knight@icaew.com) will be pleased to give further information, and Gillian or Barbara Brooks, the Clerk to the Charity (charity@accountantslivery.org), can provide the Bursary Notes and Conditions and the Application Form. Applications need to be submitted by Friday 4th June 2021 and the awards will be made by the start of the 2021-22 academic year.
