NAO report on HMRC
The NAO has published a report to help MPs in their examination of HMRC. The NAO says that the report “provides a factual overview for readers interested in understanding more about how HMRC collects and spends taxpayers’ money”. The report draws on the NAO’s previous findings and publicly available sources of information.
GOV.UK One Login
HMRC has advised ICAEW that, from 10 November 2025, the sign-in screen for HMRC services will give the individual the option to sign in using GOV.UK One Login alongside the existing Government Gateway option. HMRC says that this is to allow for testing and that individuals should continue to use their Government Gateway sign-in details. If the user selects GOV.UK One Login they will be redirected to Government Gateway.
GOV.UK One Login is the long-term replacement for Government Gateway. A limited public launch of GOV.UK One Login is expected in early 2026.
