As Chair of the ICAEW Energy & Natural Resources Community advisory group, I’m pleased to share an update on our recent activity and reflections on the challenges and opportunities shaping our sector.
The energy and natural resources landscape is undergoing profound change – driven by shifting regulations, global market volatility, and the accelerating push towards net zero. For those of us in the finance profession, this presents a complex but exciting mandate: to guide businesses through the financial, strategic, and reporting implications of the energy transition.
Throughout the past year, our group has remained focused on providing ICAEW members with timely insight and practical guidance. One recent highlight was our webinar exploring the commercial benefits of Solar PV, which offered actionable perspectives for both businesses and advisors navigating rising energy costs and sustainability goals. Looking ahead, I strongly encourage you to attend our upcoming session on 13 May, 'Factors, forecasts and the future – what determines the price of energy?' This promises to be one of the year’s most valuable events, equipping finance professionals with the tools to better understand and plan for future energy pricing.
