EY has promoted Silvia Rindone to managing partner for strategy and transactions, succeeding Steve Ivermee, who will continue his role as a partner within EY’s private equity practice. Rindone was previously EY strategy and transactions markets leader and head of retail in the UK. She joined EY in 2019, from Capgemini Invent, where she was head of business transformation. Before that she worked for Alvarez & Marsal, Deloitte and Kurt Salmon Associates. 

The firm has also made 46 new partner appointments across the strategy and transactions service line – 23 internal promotions and 23 external hires.

Newcastle-based Azets partner Lee Humble has been appointed UK head of corporate finance. He was an associate partner at MHA Tait Walker when it was taken over by Azets in May 2022. Immediately after the takeover, he was promoted to partner and head of Azets’ northeast corporate finance team. He started his career training as an ACA with PwC’s audit team in Newcastle, before moving to UNW’s corporate finance team covering the northeast of England. He has also worked for NatWest, Banco Santander and Secure Trust Bank, as well as Inveniam Corporate Finance, and Newcastle-based design and manufacturing company Clavis, as finance director.

In June, PAI Partners invested in Azets, alongside current owner Hg Capital, to fund its next phase of growth.

Anuj Chande, Grant Thornton corporate finance partner and head of its South Asia business group, has been appointed OBE in the King’s 2023 birthday honours for his “exceptional services to international trade and investment”. Chande founded the South Asia business group in 1991, immediately after joining the firm from Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC). He also developed the firm’s India Meets Britain report, which tracks the Indian economic footprint in the UK.

PwC has promoted Rebecca Elnaugh (1) and Jonathan Massam (2) to partner in lead advisory; and David Chong (3), Sally Graham (4), Manuela Munteanu (5) and Matt Tomlinson (6) to partner in transactions services.

Birmingham-based Elnaugh, who specialises in valuations, joined PwC in 2021 from Smith & Williamson (now Evelyn Partners). Prior to that she spent five years with Deloitte and nine years with KPMG, where she trained as a chartered accountant. Massam is in London and advises on energy transition M&A. He joined the firm in 2006 and spent six years in infrastructure finance, before moving into the energy sector corporate finance team.

Chong specialises in financial services and joined 12 years ago from Citibank. Before that he spent four years with BDO in his native Australia. Birmingham-based Graham joined the firm 17 years ago, and is in the SPA team. Munteanu specialises in healthcare and pharma and joined PwC 10 years ago. Before that she worked for Deloitte and trained as an accountant in Romania, where she is originally from. Tomlinson has a focus on engineering and construction and industrial products businesses, and has been with the firm for 21 years, initially training as an ACA in its London audit team.

The big four firm has also promoted Matt Curry, Eleanor Scott and Matthew Ward-Close to partner in value creation and realisation; and Minesh Rana, Zeynep Turunc and Michael Willis to partner in the restructuring and forensics team. Georgie Bryce has been promoted to partner in the deals insights and analytics team.

Jo Sheerin and Richard Lee have joined Alvarez & Marsal’s new UK corporate finance division as senior directors from KPMG. Sheerin spent nine years at KPMG and was head of deal origination, which will continue to be her focus. Before that she spent 11 years with BDO, initially in business development. Lee spent 18 years with KPMG in London, where he trained as an ACA, and was latterly a corporate finance director.

KPMG’s former UK corporate finance head (and member of the ICAEW Corporate Finance Faculty board) Jonathan Boyers will join the US firm in January 2024, to head up the new corporate finance team in London. He resigned from KPMG in January 2023 and is currently on 12 months’ gardening leave.

IMAP has recruited Karri Vuori as head of M&A in the UK, from finnCap Cavendish, where he spent three years as partner. IMAP plans rapid expansion of its UK corporate finance business. Vuori was previously head of M&A at Liberum for three years, and head of M&A at Panmure Gordon for three years. He also worked for Charles Stanley Securities and Hawkpoint, having started his career with KPMG.

Kreston Reeves has promoted James Reed-Sperrin (1) to corporate finance partner and head of the transaction services team. He joined the firm in February 2021 from Saffery Champness and previously worked for BDO, EY, Baker Tilly and Grant Thornton, where he trained as an ACA in audit, before moving into transaction advisory services. 

The firm has also promoted James Hopkirk (2) to restructuring partner. He has been with the firm for six years, having previously worked for Moore Stephens and Begbies Traynor.

HMT has recruited Adam Furrer as director in its London-based lead advisory team, from Grant Thornton, where he was an associate director in M&A. He spent nine years with the firm and before that worked for PwC, where he trained as an ACA.

LAVA Advisory Partners has promoted Tom Rowe-Jones to M&A director. He joined the firm as associate director in May 2021 from Deloitte, where he had spent three years in M&A advisory. Prior to that he worked for Accenture. And Loïc Bourdonnec has also joined LAVA as associate director from Quest Fund Placement. Before that, he spent 12 years with PwC, initially in his native Paris and latterly working in the transaction services team in London.

Evelyn Partners has recruited Paul Geddes as CEO from QA Group, where he had been CEO since 2019. He succeeds Chris Woodhouse. Geddes previously spent 10 years as CEO of Direct Line.
