The details held on your ICAEW member profile are the key way in which we can keep in touch with you. When you are changing job, moving house or taking a career break, it’s an easy thing to forget about, but it’s really important to ensure you don’t miss important communications and that your annual renewal reflects your personal circumstances.
How to check your details
You can see the details we have for you at any time on your member dashboard, simply login using your icaew.com credentials. Don’t worry if you’ve forgotten your username or your password, you can reset both online by following our step-by-step guide and if you still have trouble you can get in touch.
Once you’re logged in to your dashboard, click on the member icon in the top right of your screen and you’ll see a list of options:
- registered details – your contact details;
- data consent – where you manage your privacy options;
- communication preferences – where you manage which ICAEW newsletters you receive; and
- password reset.
Contact details
Click through to ‘registered details’ and you’ll see the contact details we have on record and can amend them. It’s particularly important that your email address, phone number and registered address (ie, postal address) is correct, as this data is what we use to get in touch with important communications, including your membership renewal.
If your registered address is a business address, you won’t be able to amend this online, but you will be directed to the right ICAEW department that can help you do this. There is an option to include a secondary postal address if that’s helpful for you.
Changing employment status
Your member profile can include details of your employment status – whether you’re working full-time, part-time, on a career break or retired, for example – as well as where you are located, the type of role you hold and your annual earnings.
This information helps us to tailor our communications to best support you in your career – helping you to find out about nearby events or training options – and ensure that your membership renewal best reflects your circumstances.
Individuals who are not working, retired or are earning less than £34,109 are eligible for reduced membership fees. By keeping your employment status up to date, we can ensure your annual renewal includes any reductions to which you’re entitled.
You can update your employment status and additional information at any time online, and while you can only request a reduced subscription when you renew, you can call +44 (0)1908 248 250 to talk through your circumstances and what they might mean for your membership costs.
Staying in the know
Alongside checking your contact and employment details, it makes sense to go through your communication preferences.
As an ICAEW member you have a range of potential newsletters, communities and faculties at your fingertips to help you stay up to date with the latest developments.
ICAEW Insights publishes news and support for the finance profession and the wider accountancy landscape every day. You can choose to receive updates daily, weekly or monthly – whichever works best for you.
You can also sign up to get regular updates on ICAEW research into UK business confidence, as well as updates on regulation and conduct, tax and practice management.
Meanwhile, by selecting the topics that interest you – whether it’s internal audit or financial reporting, business management or technology – we can tailor your updates to feature events, training and rewards that could be most relevant and closest to you.
Finally, for those considering their next challenge, we’ve got ebulletins on the latest accountancy roles on our jobsite and potential volunteering opportunities.
Ensuring your communication preferences are up to date will help you to make the most of your ICAEW membership.
