The six Knowledge modules of the Professional Level, and all the modules of the CFAB qualification are examined by computer-based assessment.

Computer-based assessments are available at ICAEW approved test centres (PDF 23KB/3 pages) or Pearson Vue test centres, and can be taken at any time of the year (subject to centre availability).

Each assessment is 1½ hours long, with a pass mark of 55%. The assessments in Assurance, Business & Finance, Law and Principles of Taxation have 50 questions, whilst the Accounting and Management Information assessments have 40 questions.

Students are not permitted to take any material into the assessment environment; the ICAEW provides approved calculators and wipe-boards to test centres for use in the assessment. Calculators can be purchased from our supplier (model Aurora SC582) for use in the classroom to familiarise the students with the calculator model and its functions.

Students can access their results online, normally within 24 hours of sitting the assessment. The assessments can be attempted in any order, and each student has four attempts at each module.
