Life experiences of a Black accounting student and faculty member

Mark C.Dawkins discusses his life experiences as a Black student studying accounting at several predominantly white institutions and then as a Black accounting faculty member serving for 28 years. He includes some personal thoughts, memories and experiences, with the aim of providing some insights about the need for and benefits derived from diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training, initiatives and programs for accounting students.

An interview with Bernadette Pieters, who was appointed as BDO USA's first diversity, equity and inclusion officer in 2022. She discusses the progress made at the firm towards improving their recruitment of employees from wider backgrounds.
