Responding to the new Free Trade Agreement between the UK and New Zealand, announced today by International Trade Secretary and ICAEW Member Anne Marie-Trevelyan, ICAEW Chief Executive Michael Izza said:

“There is much to be optimistic about in the new free trade agreement with New Zealand, signed today by International Trade Secretary and ICAEW Member Anne-Marie Trevelyan. Plans to make it easier for UK professionals – such as accountants and lawyers – to work in the country and bring their families along are particularly welcome.

“We look forward to working with the government and regulators to deliver the promises outlined in this deal, including the recognition of UK professional qualifications and commitment to a clearer and less complex regulatory environment. Making this work in practice will be key to ensuring New Zealand is an attractive place for our members and member firms to do business.”
