Rachel Reeves MP, Chair of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee, delivered a keynote speech launching the committee’s report into the future of audit in Chartered Accountants’ Hall.

Rachel spoke about her committee’s inquiry into the future of audit and took part in a question and answer session chaired by Michael Izza, ICAEW’s Chief Executive, alongside Antoinette Sandbach MP who also sits on the committee. You can watch the speech below.

Michael Izza gives evidence to committee

Michael Izza gave evidence to the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee on 5 February 2019. Michael set out ICAEW’s views on the three major reviews which will shape the audit landscape for years to come – Sir John Kingman’s Review of the FRC, the CMA’s audit market study and Sir Donald Brydon’s Review into the future of audit.

Rachel Reeves MP launches inquiry

The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee inquiry into the future of audit was originally launched by Rachel Reeves MP during a speech in Chartered Accountants’ Hall on 12 November 2018. During her speech Rachel talked about audit reform, trust in business and corporate governance. Rachel also took part in a roundtable with local audit firms in the Leeds area to discuss the challenges facing the sector.
