Welcome to Chartered Accountants' Hall. I am delighted you have been able to join me on my first day as ICAEW President.
My presidential year takes place at an extraordinary and unpredictable time, as emerging economic, social, environmental and technological issues change the way we live, work and do business.
Strategic, informed and trusted leadership is needed to address these areas, in ways which are pragmatic and sustainable, and I believe that Chartered Accountants provide and enable that leadership, and will continue to do so.
But we must work together with others, as a global professional community, if we are to tackle the challenges and embrace the opportunities – and I look forward to working with you in the year ahead.
