“ICAEW is proud of its foundation by Royal Charter in 1880, committing us to serve the public interest. Our vision is to enable a world of sustainable economies, a cause which we know has His Majesty’s sympathy and support,” said ICAEW’s Chief Executive, Michael Izza.
His Majesty established the Accounting for Sustainability (A4S) project in 2004, inspiring the profession to guide businesses to a more resilient future by putting critical environmental and social considerations at the heart of their decision-making.
As a way of thanking His Majesty for his efforts to drive forward this important initiative, the Institute made him its first ever honorary member in 2007.
“ICAEW is grateful for His Majesty’s past leadership in championing sustainability,” added Izza. “We humbly hope that it may continue through what we wish to be a long and prosperous reign.”
ICAEW President Julia Penny has written to the Palace to congratulate King Charles and Queen Camilla on behalf of members, students and staff.
