Employers will welcome new guidance from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) to help them manage transgender and non-binary equality, diversity and inclusion issues in the workplace.

The guidance ‘Transgender and non-binary inclusion at work’ includes advice on how to introduce effective, relevant policies and training in the workplace, and how to attract, recruit and induct transgender and non-binary workers. The guidance includes a glossary of terms commonly used and advice on inclusive language.

There is also a section dealing with data protection and management issues for transgender and non-binary workers, including where names have changed as a result of gender reassignment.
