New President for ICAEW Staffs, Salop and Wolverhampton

Chris Beeston ACA CTA, has been elected as President for ICAEW Staffs, Salop and Wolverhampton.

Chris is a Director at Geens Chartered Accountants, based in Stoke-on-Trent, which he joined in 2007 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax adviser. He now heads up the firm’s Tax and Probate department, with a particular interest in inheritance tax planning, trusts and estates.

Chris will focus on enhancing member engagement during his one-year term of office. Local district societies like ICAEW Staffs, Salop and Wolverhampton are a key link between ICAEW and members on the ground. During the pandemic ICAEW has demonstrated leadership in assisting members through difficult situations. Building further links between ICAEW and local members will enrich the chartered accountancy profession as a whole.

Chris will represent over 1,800 ICAEW Chartered Accountants living and working in the local area and, as President, will also focus on building close connections with and between members by bringing new and innovative events and initiatives to the area.

ICAEW Staffs, Salop and Wolverhampton plays an important role in supporting local members to address the unprecedented challenges facing the accountancy profession and businesses, such as digitalisation, modernisation of tax systems, Brexit and helping members affected by COVID-19. It also plays an important role in facilitating networking for local professionals through various activities and initiatives.

Speaking of his appointment, Chris said, ‘It is an honour to serve as President for ICAEW Staffs, Salop and Wolverhampton. During my year in office, I aim to build further links between ICAEW and the local membership to everyone’s benefit.’

Roger Stephenson FCA of Dunsley Properties has been re-elected as Treasurer.

ICAEW Staffs, Salop and Wolverhampton next meets virtually on 30 June at 5pm.
